Tell us about yourself and about Milega?

« I’m the founder of Milega, which is the first translation agency 100% dedicated to the issues involved with e-commerce and e-tourism translation. What is Milega’s specific role in the internationalisation process?

« Milega is involved in two main ways:

Translation and localisation: this is at the heart of our work. A website’s content must not be translated literally but localised, adapted to target countries. The future visitor shouldn’t realise that they’re reading a translation. This is crucial for customer conversion.

Advice on the extraction and integration of content and translations: This is a really important part of our activity. We advise clients on the best way to extract their site content and the easiest way to integrate it. We also plan and manage updates and urgent projects (a banner for a marketing campaign, for example), which are very frequent in this industry. The aim is to reduce workflow as far as possible. We are full of ideas and innovations and have developed our own tools and API for Prestashop and Magento, which make it possible to extract content automatically and then to integrate translations. »

What would be your advice to a company going through the internationalisation process?

« The preparation phase is crucial, both for the translation and localisation process and for other aspects (logistics, call centres, online payment…). This work beforehand will lead to better cost and time management.

When it comes to the linguistic aspect itself, it must be remembered that consumers are 5 times more likely to buy from a website in their native language. This makes it totally naïve to hope to sell all over the world with a site in English or, even worse, with automatic translations that will endanger your e-reputation and your brand. »
